How to Start and Run a Business
All businesses are established to serve one part of society in one way or another. The business you are going to start is no different. Society is the community of people living in the same general area as to where your business will be located.
We have severally referred to the community in the various discussions elaborating on the ecosystem in which a business operates. Alongside community we have discussed shareholders, directors, management, staff, customers, suppliers and governing authorities
In the fullness of time your business will exist and serve the public irrespective of your being there or not. Business are described as going concerns which outlive the people who started them. So it gains its own personality as a member of society and it should maintain a good relationship with that society.
Its activities should not destroy the environment in such ways as polluting rivers, emmiting dangerous fumes into the atmosphere or projecting noises which are disturbing to neighbors
A good businesses should provide employment to members of the community and invest some of its profits in community service responsibility (CSR) projects. Over the years the community will depend on your busines and your business will depend on the community
